Certificate in Counselling Skills Whilst Working with Children & Young People Aged 11–18 @ QLS Level 4
An Exciting Opportunity – Working with Children & Young People
Following our work on the Level 4 Certificate in Counselling Skills Whilst Working with Children & Young People Aged 11–18, we wanted to highlight what we believe is a really exciting opportunity for those of you who have a particular interest in working with children and young people.
Working with young people can be an incredibly rewarding area of counselling practice, and developing specialist knowledge and skills in this area can broaden the opportunities available to you as you continue your professional journey.
The qualification is designed to develop your understanding of working therapeutically with young people aged 11–18 and provides an opportunity to explore the particular issues, needs and considerations involved when working with this age group.
For those who are considering developing their own private practice in the future, this area can potentially provide an additional specialism. There may also be opportunities, depending on your overall qualifications, experience, professional membership and the requirements of individual organisations, to explore work within settings such as:
• Private practice
• Schools and secondary schools
• Colleges and further education
• Universities and student support services
• Youth organisations and community services
• Charities and voluntary organisations
• Family and young people's services
• Other organisations providing support to young people
It is important to remember that different organisations will have their own requirements regarding qualifications, experience, safeguarding, supervision and professional registration. This qualification should therefore be viewed as an opportunity to develop an additional area of knowledge and specialism alongside your wider counselling training.
Please read through the attached information carefully and think about how this additional area of study could fit into your own professional development and future plans.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the qualification and the potential opportunities it could offer, please bring them along to our next session,
and we can discuss them together.
