Dear Practitioner,
We are delighted to introduce an exciting opportunity for advanced professional development in psychotherapy. JMC Counselling & Training, in partnership with the Skills and Education Group (SEG), is proud to offer a professionally recognised Level 6 and Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Year one, column B SCoPEd), and Masters in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Year two, column C SCoPEd).
Why This Course Stands Out
• Respected Accreditation: SEG is one of the UK’s leading awarding bodies, known for its academic integrity and professional rigour.
• Professional Membership: GPsyC is a psychotherapeutic body that accepts only those meeting advanced, ethical standards. All students are eligible for free student membership during their studies, with full membership offered at a significantly reduced rate of £115 per year upon qualification.
• Flexible Recognition: Students may retain membership with their existing professional body while gaining recognition and qualification through the Level 6 & Level 7 qualifications.
Key Benefits of the training.
Graduates may follow one or both of the following routes:
1. Attain Full Membership with GPsyC, acquiring the professional title of Psychotherapist without undertaking further accreditation processes (unlike routes required by other professional bodies between Levels 4–7).
2. Remain with your existing professional body while meeting the training standards necessary for recognition at Columns B & C of the SCoPEd Framework.
(Note: Column C requires a Level 7 qualification; Level 6 does not meet this threshold.)
Entry Requirements
To enrol on the programme, applicants must:
• Hold a professional Level 5 Diploma in Counselling. Unfortunately, we cannot accept a lower qualification in counselling or qualifications in related

Meeting SCoPEd Column C Requirements
To achieve Column C recognition, practitioners must:
1. Complete a minimum of four years’ training
2. Accumulate at least 500 guided learning hours
3. Complete 450 supervised one-to-one client hours

This programme includes 120 guided learning hours (GLH), meeting the minimum requirement for BACP-accredited progression courses (APC), and supports unlimited clinical hours during training for added depth and flexibility.
Start Date: Tuesday, 1st September 2026.

• Format: Blended learning (in-person and online synchronous sessions) with holiday breaks
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Level 6 or a degree to join a Level 7 course?
Yes. If an applicant already meets the level 6 criteria, they can enrol for year two of this programme.
Can I enrol for year two without holding a level 6 qualification?
No, for those who hold a level 5 Diploma in Counselling, you must first complete the level 6 Postgraduate Diploma before entering year two.
This course has been designed to support your transition to Column B and and column C. The programme also meets the training requirements for senior accreditation status, which is also required to enter column C of the SCoPEd framework.
Future Opportunities
Column C status is increasingly being used as the benchmark for employment in the NHS and other statutory and third-sector mental health services. As these roles
adopt a more medicalised model of care, holding Column C recognition can significantly enhance your employability, clinical credibility, and earning potential.
